1959 MGTC Milano
See https://fvee91.wixsite.com/my-site for more photos, videos, CoD and log book details.
Originally a square rigger TC with a 1250cc super charged XPAG engine later converted to a 1500cc XPAE (MG TF) engine. Was smashed in the 1950’s and converted to a Milano prior to 31/12/1959 per CAMS certificate of description. Rumor has it that as a square rigger it was raced and owned by some famous identities however we never sought to prove this as our intention was to present the car as a Milano.
Car was purchased by the current owner in the 1980’s and fully restored. The car has been raced over the decades at most east coast Australian circuits and turn’s heads everywhere it goes.
Car is logged booked and competed as a Group Lb sports racing car under 1500cc’s and has always been competitive. The car is the current record holder for its category at Oran Park South circuit.
Mechanically the car is A1 and will pass any test. The engine machine work was performed by LW Parry of Arncliffe and tuned by Frank & Daniel Kleing. Internally you will find a billet steel crank, rods & flywheel attached to custom made forged piston’s. Current configuration is 1350cc no liners at 10:1 compression. Tuned for 100 octane unleaded. Cylinder head, manifold, carburetors & exhaust and extensively race prepared and the engine runs accordingly. Decades of race development have produced this configuration of engine that is reliable and powerful. Bearings come out of this engine in as new condition. The crank & rods were purchased in the early 90’s and have never required a re grind or close and hone. This engine will rev safely and repeatedly far beyond the cam’s ability to produce power.
The drive train has had a similar througher treatment with straight cut gears in the gear box and custom made ‘400hp’ axles in a banjo specifically developed by Craft Diffs.
In recent years the car has only been hill climbed – the current tyres (Hoosier Vintage TD) have plenty of life left in them been stored appropriately and having competed in only one hill climb. Belts dated to 2021.
A double drop axle trailer (custom made for this car) along with an inventory of spare parts including engine blocks & heads, moulds for the bonnet and headlight covers can be available according to the buyers requirements.
Car is located on the NSW south coast and the owner is seeking expression’s of interest from interested parties. Cars of this standard with racing history seldom come up for sale. If you choose to wait until after lockdown you will likely miss out. Phone Daniel on 0437 458 208 or Ralph on 0417 964 911 or email Fvee91@yahoo.com.au
